INTRODUCTION

This
report has been written to introduce you to the concepts of astrology and how
to get started with your natal chart. Astrology is a complex and meaningful
science which takes years to study and apply successfully; however, we would
like to whet your appetite with this report, and encourage you to deepen your
understanding through other means.
Astrology
is a study of the connection between planets and life on Earth. It is based on
a concept that energy patterns form between other planets and Earth; and that
these energies affect our lives as individuals and communities.
An
astrological chart, also known as a horoscope, natal chart, or birth chart,
records the relationship between the planets and the signs of the Zodiac.
Charts can be calculated for the birth of a person, a community, an event or
anything that seems momentous. The horoscope is as individual and unique as a
fingerprint.
When
using these interpretations, please bear in mind that, inevitably, every chart
will contain some contradictory influences, and as a result certain
interpretations of different items in the same chart may seem difficult to
reconcile. However, this may still be an accurate reflection of your chart, as
it is likely that you do experience conflicting desires, events and circumstances
in your life. Usually it is the responsibility of an astrologer to synthesise these apparent contradictions in order to
present a cohesive and meaningful interpretation of the dilemmas of the chart.
Please
also be aware of the fact that each person has positive and negative influences
in the chart, and therefore in their lives. The challenge is to accept and
overcome the negative influences, so that we can successfully focus on the
positive traits. This report outlines both influences, and therefore parts may
be difficult to accept. Any advice given is meant to be an aid to a person
taking responsibility for their own lives. The ultimate decision rests with
each individual. The author and publisher accept no liability for any adverse
effects of this report.
LIFE
GOALS

If
you would hit the mark, you must aim a little above it;
Every
arrow that flies feels the attraction of earth.
Longfellow,
Elegiac Verse 1880.
Just
as the Sun is the centre of the Earth's Solar System, so does the Sun play a
vital role in your life on earth. Your life goals are
linked to your Sun - its zodiac sign and its position in your chart. Contrary
to popular belief, the Sun isn't the only planet to be considered in a person's
chart, but it is an important component. The Sun gives you an indication of how
you can shine in your life. You will feel truly alive when you're living the
traits indicated by your Sun. Therefore it's likely that you will spend much of
your life on a journey to self discovery, aiming to incorporate these traits
into your life. Understanding the energy of your Sun is a good starting point
to understanding yourself and your purpose in life.
Your
Sun is in the twelfth house of your birth chart meaning that much of your life
is spent working behind the scenes, whether this means taking a back seat in
your job or working in the relative anonymity of a large institution such as a
hospital or the armed services. Although you've the ability to succeed in your
life, it is likely to involve some form of self-sacrifice. You've the ability
to overcome any difficulties entirely through your own efforts, although you
can benefit from other people's charity at great times of need. You seem to be
constantly forced into situations where you've to tackle things on your own and
may sometimes feel overwhelmed by the forces of the world. Seclusion is a
prominent theme of your life, whether it is enforced or by choice. It may be
that you actually enjoy long periods on your own, recharging your batteries
through moments of quiet reflection. It's also possible that you could have
some difficulty spending time on your own, as this forces you to contemplate
painful memories, particularly those connected with your father. It's likely
that you've missed out on an opportunity to have a close relationship with your
father. This separation could have been because your father was forced through
circumstances to leave the family home, or perhaps he was unwell, or simply the
type of person who lacked the strength to face up to his parental duties. In
some cases it's possible that your father could have died when you were a young
child, leaving a sense of loss. Although you may find it difficult, moments of quiet
reflection will ultimately prove to have a healing effect on any emotional
pain. You may even discover a sense of being deeply connected with the psychic
world.
Your
Sun is in the zodiac sign of Taurus indicating that you're a reliable and solid
individual, with a strong need for stability, routine and security. You
approach life in a methodical manner preferring the tried and true pathways of
familiar territory. In fact the adventures of unexplored territories fill you
with feelings of foreboding and you can be quite stubborn in your refusal to
leave your secure surroundings. Much of your energy is spent on making your
world secure. For this reason you're appreciated for your reliability and
ability to provide a safe haven for others. Your friends and family may not realise how much they have come to rely on your quiet
persistence in everyday life and your down-to-earth support and wisdom.
Tradition appeals to you, and therefore you're often seen as a stalwart in
society, taking on the more conventional roles. Your down-to-earth nature also
means that you literally enjoy the fruits of the earth. For instance you've a
strong appreciation of the beauties and practical advantages of nature, often
pouring your own creative energy into garden scenes or the more practical
vegetable garden. You also enjoy the sensation of textures and tastes, often
indulging yourself in the comforts and delights of the sensual side of life.
While there are obvious advantages to the pleasures of familiar creature
comforts, you must also be wary of becoming stuck in your ways stubbornly
refusing to move from your stronghold.
The
Sun is making contact with the planet Uranus in your birth chart meaning that
you're a highly-talented and unique individual, determined to carve your own
destiny rather than follow traditional paths. You're brimming with original and
innovative ideas, which you're eager to put into action. Your goals may change
during the course of your life, but this doesn't concern you, as long as you've a range of options.
Doggedly independent, you like to be given the freedom to explore your talents
and to learn by your own mistakes. You respect other people's individual
rights, and expect them to respect yours. It's not that you're selfish. Quite the contrary. Your goal is to use your talents and
ideas for the benefit of other people, perhaps even the whole of humanity.
You've strong will power and are a leader rather than a follower, refusing to
bow to another person's will. Others may see you as arrogant, wilful and disruptive at times, but they are attracted to
your electric personality. Like moths to a flame they are fascinated by your
tremendous energy and the unique manner in which you view life. You often have
flashes of intuition and are capable of sudden, decisive action, which can take
other people by surprise. It's possible that you've inherited your talents from
a male member of your family, in particular your father. It's likely that your
father, or an important father figure, has had a marked effect on your life.
Perhaps you were encouraged to break free of tradition in order to develop your
interests, or perhaps the absence of a dominant male meant that you experienced
a lot of freedom as a child. In some cases this influence can indicate a strong
father figure against whom you rebel. Either way, it's your need to be treated
as an individual that's paramount. Life is full of surprises and that's the way
that you like it.
When
the Sun and the Moon are combining unfavourably in
your chart, it means that you're likely to have difficulty succeeding in life.
You may have trouble in money matters, struggle with employment, and suffer at
the hands of other people. You should be particularly wary of troublesome
women, who could create obstacles to you achieving your goals. In some cases,
this combination can also mean that you suffer from ill health, which further
hinders your chances of success.
The
road to achieving your life goals is going to be tough because the Sun is
making a difficult aspect to the planet Pluto in your birth chart. On a
positive note you're a powerful and ambitious person, who enjoys rising to a
challenge. You enjoy tackling difficult tasks, particularly the projects which
other people have put in the too-hard basket. You're likely to succeed where
others have failed, but the path will be strewn with obstacles. It could be
circumstances which stand in your way. Perhaps your childhood was difficult,
failing to provide you with the support needed for a successful adult life.
It's possible that a dominant father figure blocked your success, perhaps even
abusing himself or you in the process. As a result you're likely to experience
strong emotions, possibly anger, when you reflect on your experiences. You can
be explosive and unpredictable and have trouble controlling your emotions,
feeling that the world is opposing your deepest wishes. Your challenge is to be
powerful in the most positive sense of the word. This way you achieve your life
goals without causing too much damage on the way!
The
planet Jupiter also tells you about your goals in life, in particular the areas
in which you are likely to succeed. Jupiter is the planet of expansion,
abundance and wisdom. Ancient astrologers believed that the planet Jupiter had
a greatly beneficial effect on a person's life.
Jupiter
is also in the twelfth house of your chart signifying that in life's most
despairing moments you've the ability to dig deep into a well of optimism and
overcome all difficulties. You're a kind-hearted person who likes to help
anyone who is suffering, perhaps even working in a charitable organisation. You're more likely to work behind the scenes
rather than taking on a public role, refusing to accept public accolades.
Nevertheless your good works don't go unnoticed and you're likely to benefit in
other ways. It's possible that you work in an institution such as a hospital or
museum, where you can work quietly and unobserved. If you do have an active
public life, then you benefit greatly from extended periods of time spent in
seclusion. You've a great respect for ancient wisdom, the spiritual teachings
of past civilisations. Secret societies may also play
a beneficial role in your life. Although you may suffer setbacks during your
life, these are followed by successful periods.
You've
the planet Jupiter in the zodiac sign of Taurus in your birth chart indicating
that "success comes to those who wait" could be a good motto for you.
This is because you like to take your time and build up your resources slowly
and surely. You're a dignified person who realises
the value of planning ahead and working towards a goal. Persistence pays off
and material wealth is often the result. You're a peaceful person, more likely
to be seeking security through expanding your financial resources and property
rather than travelling around the world. It's not
that you don't like to travel, but simply that you're a little stuck in your
ways and prefer to travel for a purpose. Adventure and fun can just as readily
be found on the home front as far as you're concerned. It would also be fair to
say that you're somewhat attached to a comfortable life, which you easily build
for yourself. Reserved by nature you prefer to travel along known pathways
rather than venture into new and exciting areas. At times you can also be a
little over-indulgent, but then you can usually afford to be. You're also like
to have fixed religious ideas, whether they be traditional or unorthodox. It's
not that you're narrow-minded, but rather than you adhere to a set of beliefs
which can be your guide through life. You're interested in practical
spirituality. In other words you believe that it's important to incorporate your
religious or spiritual ideals into everyday life. "Actions speak louder
than words" may be an appropriate adage for your personal beliefs. For
this reason you could also become a patron of a group or organisations.
The
planets Jupiter and Uranus are making a difficult aspect in your chart
indicating that your unusual approach to achieving your goals can sometimes
land you in hot water! You're keen to change things in this world because you
can see where traditional methods have failed. You see no reason to continue
with out-moded traditions, preferring unconventional
and new ideas. The trouble is that at times you lack tact and diplomacy. You're
impatient to see results, not realising that your
very impatience is jeopardising your success.
Repeatedly throughout your life, experience is likely to teach you that success
isn't an overnight accomplishment. Results don't always come quickly. Perhaps
you could remind yourself of the motto "all good things come to those who
wait". It's worth persevering with your goals and taking a positive
approach to overcoming the obstacles in your life. You can achieve a great deal
in the world through your innovative and unusual methods. You may also benefit
by joining with like-minded individuals, perhaps in the fields of metaphysics,
unorthodox religion or science.
HOME

Perverse
and foolish oft I strayed,
But
yet in love he sought me,
And
on his shoulder gently laid,
And
home, rejoicing, brought me.
Hymn,
The King of love my Shepherd is 1868.
Astrologers
from different schools of thought allocate varying meanings to the Moon in a
birth chart. Ancient astrologers say that the Moon changes its nature according
to its phases, and merely passes on impressions from other planets rather than
directly influencing a person's life. However, modern astrologers tell us that
the Moon depicts a person's roots, our home and family. They say the Moon also
shows our habitual nature or subconscious patterns of behaviour
which stand in the way of achieving our life goals.
While the Moon can show us our strengths, it can also depict our weaknesses
which need to be overcome in order to be successful in life.
The
Moon is placed in the tenth house of your birth chart suggesting that you're
ambitious and enjoy your job, spending much time in the workplace, working odd
hours to make sure that you get ahead in your career. You've a need to be
publicly recognised for your achievements, and this
need may or may not be satisfied during your lifetime. It's likely that you succeed
in your chosen profession at some stage during your life, but whether or not
this success is enduring depends on other sections of your birth chart. It's
true to say that your professional life undergoes several changes during the
course of your life, with rises to fame and popularity, and possible falls from
grace. You're also likely to move into a completely different field of work at
least once in your lifetime. You seek stimulation through your work,
particularly enjoying travelling to foreign countries
for business purposes. Your relationship with women, in particular your mother,
may also play a prominent role in your career. You've a powerful relationship
with your mother and her influence on your chosen career path may be subtle or
obvious. In ancient times the Moon was considered to be in a strong position
when placed in the angular tenth house of a chart, meaning that you're in a
strong position to achieve your ambitions.
With
the Moon in the sign of Aquarius you've an innate distrust of emotions,
preferring the safety of intellectual analysis. It's not that you don't want to
become close to your loved ones, it's just that they seem to be so emotional
about everything. In fact you enjoy social gatherings with loved ones, but you
prefer to talk about social issues and world events rather than touch on an
emotionally intimate subject. You're most at home when analysing
the world from an intellectual point of view. You're comfortable amongst
friends, but find one-to-one intimacy a little threatening. In company you
enjoy a good joke, and have a good sense of humour
which helps you through the most awkward situations, which seem to crop up
quite often in your life. In personal relationships, you need freedom. Your
view of the world is often quite different. In fact you can feel quite strongly
about some of the things happening in the world, particularly if you feel that
events are detrimental to humanity as a whole.
EDUCATION
AND COMMUNICATION

There
is no such whetstone, to sharpen a good wit
and encourage a will to
learning, as is praise.
Roger
Ascham, The Schoolmaster 1570.
Our
academic schooling and learning through life experience are linked to the
planet Mercury. This planet stands for
the intellect, common sense, cold reason, commerce and business. It tells us
about our communication and learning habits and our modes of thinking.
The
planet Mercury in the twelfth house of your chart signifies that you've a
lively imagination and love to immerse yourself in a realm of fantasy. This
could be your own day-dreaming and reflection or it could the faerie-realms of
a good book. This can be a drawback early in your education, but can be put to
good use as you mature. You're fascinated by secrets - other people's secrets
and metaphysical secrets. Magic and the occult world is a strong pull in your
life. At times you're frightened by the extent to which you like to dabble in
the occult, but you're a risk-taker when it comes to secret adventures. It's
true that you do have to be careful not to get out of your depth. Otherwise you
could find that the boundaries between reality and fantasy become difficult to
discern, and you're in danger of becoming mentally unstable. Depending on other
influences in your birth chart, it's possible that you could spend some time in
a mental institution where you're able to re-address any mental imbalances in
your life. However, knowing your propensity to worry about such things, it
should be pointed out that this isn't a foregone conclusion. You're more likely
to benefit from long periods of rest and seclusion where you can quietly ponder
the secret mysteries of life.
The
planet Mercury in the zodiac sign of Aries indicates that you're a
single-minded individual, and tend to make up your own mind rather than rely on
the ideas of others. In fact you're rather quick to jump to conclusions. Mostly
this is a benefit in your education because you've an agile mind and are
capable of making sharp decisions on the spot. You're an independent thinker
often experiencing flashes of intuition which help you reach your conclusions
quickly. Others admire your incisive mind. The only problem is that often you
are so far ahead of others in your thoughts that you're easily bored as you
wait for them to catch up. You need the stimulation of new intellectual
challenges, and the freedom to forge ahead at the forefront of communication
discoveries. You can be quite wilful, and need to be
mindful of the fact that while others may be slower in their thinking, they can
still make a positive contribution.
The
planets Mercury and Pluto are combined in your birth chart suggesting that your
education and communications are coloured with highs
and lows. On the positive side you've a probing mind and the ability to assess
situations rapidly, which can lead to success in your studies. You're likely to
excel in any education process which requires research and intense work. It's
also likely that these gifts will help you excel in any professional or
personal situation which involves counselling or
crisis work. Your insightful mind proves invaluable in such situations. You
enjoy investigating mysteries and probing for hidden truths. Secretive by
nature, you find it easy to appreciate other peoples need for privacy. Your
gift for being able to keep secrets means that other people often confide in
you. It's likely that you've learnt to rely on your own judgement
from an early age. Perhaps a threatening environment, at home, in your neighbourhood, or at school, meant that your instincts were
a vital means of survival. It could also have been a crisis, ranging from a
traumatic change of school or a death, that led to
your ability to see situations clearly and honestly. These gifts can be used to
benefit your adult life, and other people. However, problems are likely to
arise because of your inability to see the lighter side of life, and to accept
that occasionally you might be wrong! You are a deep thinker with wonderful
powers of concentration, but you can become obsessive, seeing only innuendos
and subtleties in communications, rather than the bigger and often brighter
picture. This obsessive side of your nature means that you also tend to believe
that others are opposed to your thoughts and ideas, when perhaps they're not.
You need to battle to overcome your tendency to create conflict and then seek
revenge in such situations by finding a positive outlet for your energy. For
instance you may benefit from writing down your feelings of anger and
resentment, making sure that they don't reach the party involved. If you
believe that you're losing sight of the plot, then seek advice from a trusted
friend or colleague. You are at your most powerful when using your insights for
positive purposes. In particular your honesty and insights can be useful in a counselling situation, but be careful of taking these
talents out of the consulting room unless invited to do so. Friends and loved
ones may not always appreciate your ability to get straight to the point,
particularly if they're feeling vulnerable or emotionally distraught. You need
to learn tact and diplomacy and sensitivity to other people's pain. Your gifts,
combined with compassion, make you a powerful advocate in any field.
The
planet Mercury is making unfavourable contact with
the planet Saturn in your birth chart meaning that you experience delays and
obstacles in your education and communication at some stage of your life. This
could be problems with teachers in early childhood education, or a change of
school which proves unsatisfactory, or possibly early-learning difficulties.
This is likely to have been a problem when you were a child. Perhaps a teacher
or a parent was critical of your ideas, or you were shy. Perhaps circumstances,
such as financial loss or death, troubled your mind or prevented you from
completing your education. Whatever the scenario, it's likely that you continue
to be exposed to disappointments as you grow older. You seem to be subject to
criticism and opposition, hindering your plans and communications with other
people. These delays are most likely to occur in connection to your studies,
contracts, books, and negotiations with other people. You also need to be wary
of unnecessary gloomy thoughts. At times you may sympathise
with the misery of the donkey Eeyore in A. A. Milne's
Winnie the Pooh. You would do well to remember that it's possible that
you've become overly sensitive to criticism as a result of your childhood
experiences. You may be reacting to perceived sleights, which were not
intended. It's also possible that you've become set in your ideas and find it
difficult to change your mind. Your rigidity may be preventing you from
understanding the true meaning of other's words and actions. Although you've
difficulty in communicating your thoughts to others and overcoming the
obstacles in your education, you do have strong will power. Your strength of
mind and persistence can be put to good use. You may be particularly interested
in science, medicine, or politics, although you're more likely to adhere to
traditional approaches. You've the ability to become a voice of authority in
your field of expertise, particularly a field which requires concentration and
persistence. In other words you're capable of achieving whatever you set your
mind to despite the obstacles.
The
planets Mercury and Neptune are forming a difficult pattern in your chart
suggesting that your mind is sometimes confused causing you to suffer setbacks
and delays in your education and communication with other people. At times
you're vague, lacking concentration and resolution. It's possible that you've
spent many hours day-dreaming, lost in a world of thoughts and ideas which seem
to have amounted to very little. This is partly because you lack the ability to
make decisions, doubting your own abilities and relying too heavily on the
influence of other people. It could also be a result of your lack of
self-control. On a positive note other influences in your chart, or the
development of self-discipline, can help you achieve your dreams. If this is
the case then you're likely to express your thoughts in an artistic or creative
manner. This could be through art, poetry, literature, story-telling, or music.
It's possible that you possess genius in one of these fields. You're also
likely to excel in medical or spiritual circles, where your heightened
sensitivity to other people can be truly appreciated. You're more likely to
follow an unconventional, rather than orthodox, path if you become involved in
medicine. This is because you're attracted in psychic and spiritual phenomena.
In fact you may possess psychic gifts. You may also enjoy reflective periods
near the water, or with nature.
RELATIONSHIPS

Let
me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit
impediments. Love isn't love
Which
alters when it alteration finds.
Shakespeare Sonnet
116.
The
planet Venus tells about love and relationships. It reveals the type of
relationship we value, and what we are seeking from our most intimate
relationship, as well as how we like to show our love. It answers questions
such as, are we attracted to strong, sensual and intense relationships? Or do
we prefer some freedom and independence? This planet also depicts how we like
to relate to our environment and other people, not just our primary partner,
and how much importance we place on money and resources.
When
the planet Venus is placed in the twelfth house of your birth chart you're
likely to enjoy your own company, perhaps even craving the peace and quiet
offered by seclusion rather than the hustle and bustle of a hectic social life.
Your friends need to respect your need to be alone at times. On occasion you
don't mind spending your time with one or two friends, particularly women
friends, but "the more the merrier" is definitely not your motto. You're more likely to be an introvert than an
extrovert, revelling in a fantasy world or in your
secret pastimes. You love mystery and romance, and have more than your share of
secrets, perhaps even investigating secret arts. The worlds of magic, alchemy
and astrology hold a certain appeal, as do many of the occult arts. Your
success in the world may be as a result of your investigation into the secret
arts. Success may also come as a result of your work behind the scenes in your
profession, or in an institution or charitable organisation.
Your tendency to delight in secrets also includes secret lovers. For this
reason you need to be wary of secret enemies, in particular women.
With
Venus in the sign of Aries you'll pursue a partner ardently and hastily,
preferring to be the initiator of the relationship rather than the recipient of
someone else's plan of action. Initially you've great enthusiasm for your loved
one, and it's important to keep the spark alight throughout the relationship.
For you enjoy a challenge in your relationships, and need to be wary of losing
interest after the initial excitement of the chase. You do well with a partner
who allows you plenty of freedom, because you value your independence and
freedom. If you become involved with someone who likes to be in control and
limits your personal freedom your relationship could suffer. On the whole you
find it quite easy to detach emotionally from a relationship. It's not that
you're heartless or lack commitment. In fact you are quite ardent in your
commitment. It's simply that when it comes to relationships you've an
independent attitude. This attitude is also reflected in money matters.
You
enjoy comfortable relationships with other people because of the favourable combination of the Moon and Venus in your birth
chart. A charming and prudent person, you enjoy the company of other people,
and they respond favourably. You're likely to enjoy
success in your primary relationship, choosing someone who feels comfortable
and companionable. You're also likely to benefit from your relationships with
women.
The
combination of the planets Venus and Pluto in your chart indicate that you
enjoy commitment and challenge in your personal relationships. Unlike many
other people, you're not afraid to make the necessary changes demanded within
close relationships. In fact you prefer change, especially if the alternative
is a staid and steady relationship. You like to be consumed with love and
passion, and are happiest when with a partner who feels the same way. You can
be disappointed when others fail to soar to great emotional heights and plummet the emotional depths by your side. You want
intensity, perhaps even a little drama, in your primary relationship. You're
fiercely loyal and committed, and expect as much from your partner. Problems
can arise when you don't feel a strong bond with your partner, or if that bond
is threatened, particularly by another person. You're a jealous person, and
quite capable of seeking revenge when wronged. You need to be careful to choose
the right person as your primary partner - someone who reciprocates your love
and passion. Otherwise you can waste a lot of time and energy trying to make a
doomed relationship work. You may also benefit from directing some of your
energy into an all-consuming project, such as fighting for human rights or an
intensely creative pursuit.
The
planets Venus and Jupiter are combining unfavourably
in your chart suggesting that you are somewhat fickle in relationships. It's
not that you don't love your partner, but rather that the grass appears greener
in other fields. Of course your ability to form a long-lasting relationship
depends on other influences in your chart, but this combination suggests that
you can be somewhat self-centred. When the going gets
tough you lose interest and wander off for greener pastures. The good news is
that you're likely to benefit through your partner, despite this inconsistent
side of your nature. You're optimistic and talented, full of joie de vivre and
optimistic plans for the future, which are likely to be successful. You're also
likely to be surrounded by supportive friends, and many potential life
partners. You're seeking a relationship with someone who will expand your
horizons. You love to share adventures, philosophies and goals.
The
planets Venus and Saturn have combined in your chart indicating that you have
difficulty in intimate relationships. You seek commitment and security in your
primary relationship, but may be disappointed at some stage of your life. Its possible for you to have a rewarding, long-term
relationship with someone trustworthy and reliable, but it's likely to be after
initial setbacks and upsets. You're faithful and loyal, a dependable, stable
and dutiful partner. However, you need to be wary of becoming involved with
someone who tries to control your movements and behaviour.
Depending on other influences in your chart you may be shy and inhibited in
your personal relationships, and be fearful of standing up for your rights. One
of your parents may have been too strict, eroding your confidence and ability
to make your own way in the world. Consequently you fear expressing yourself,
particularly in intimate relationships, and harbour
feelings of being unattractive. While your personal relationships may prove
difficult you've the ability to form good business partnerships. This is
probably because business partners don't require intimacy or emotional
vulnerability. It's also possible that you're attracted to someone much older.
The good news is that once you overcome your feelings of inadequacy you've the
ability to form secure and long-lasting personal relationships based on firm
foundations. You may favour a traditional marital
relationship, complete with a ceremony and wedding vows.
The
planets Venus and Uranus are combining unfavourably
in your chart indicating that you're restless and often lack commitment in your
personal relationships. This can lead to disappointments and complications in
love and marriage, particularly in your early adult life. It's also possible
that your roving eye can lead to scandal. You're wilful
and often perceive your primary partnership as demanding too much time and
effort, an obstacle to your freedom of self-expression. You seek spontaneity
and intellectual stimulation from your primary relationship. Unless other
influences contradict this aspect of your birth chart, commitment is not a
major part of your vocabulary, and can be something that you tend to avoid,
preferring to be "footloose and fancy free". This isn't to say that
you don't have many offers. Quite the contrary. Your bright and magnetic personality attracts potential life
partners like moths to a flame, but you prefer to keep your options open rather
than be pinned down. Depending on other aspects in your chart you may be satisfied
with a gypsy-like approach to relationships. You may also like intrigue and
secrecy in your relationships, perhaps even taking part in a secret organisation. However, if other influences are calling for
commitment and permanency in a primary partnership, then you need to choose a
partner who is able to give you plenty of freedom. You're more suited to an
unconventional relationship. You also need to learn to compromise, restrain
some of your wilder urges, and enjoy your partner's unique contribution to your
life. It's possible that the restless side of your nature is more prominent in
relationships which have formed through friendship or through fleeting
attraction rather than through true love. With the right person, you're able to
develop your talents and strengths in a positive and supportive relationship.
The
planets Venus and Neptune are combining in a manner which indicates
disappointment in your primary relationship. The problem is that you're
idealistic and unrealistic when it comes to personal relationships, lacking the
discriminatory powers needed to form a steady and lasting partnership. This
applies to both your personal and business partnerships. Consequently you often
feel disillusioned and sorry for yourself, blaming others for failing to live
up to your expectations. It's possible that your partner is indeed deceiving
you in some manner, but it's also possible that you're not being honest. Either
way it's likely that you're seeing your primary relationship through rose-coloured glasses, and as a result conflict arises because
of your lack of discernment. You're caught in a web of fantasies and romantic
illusions, either of your own or your partner's making. Coming to terms with
the reality of your relationship helps you obtain a better understanding of
your primary relationship, and prevents you from
becoming disillusioned. Taking off the rose-coloured
glasses means that you can make a proper assessment of your primary
relationship. As a result you'll experience fewer feelings of resentment and
disappointment, and won't be in danger of overlooking some major flaws such as
drug addiction or deceit. With the right partner you'll enjoy a sense of peace
and fulfilment. You may also enjoy artistic or
spiritual pursuits together. You're ardent and loving, responding quickly to
your partner's need. In turn you benefit from acts of kindness, love and
appreciation.
MOTIVATION

Dimidium facti qui coepit habet: sapere
aude.
To
have begun is half the job: be bold and be sensible.
Horace, Epistles 65-
68BC.
Mars
is the planet that tells us about our assertion and drive. It tells us what
motivates us and what desires drive us most powerfully. Are we ambitious for
professional power, or do we desire a meaningful relationship? Do we pursue our
desires aggressively? Or do we sit back, lacking the confidence to achieve our
ambitions? These are the types of questions answered by the qualities of the
planet Mars in our chart.
With
Mars placed in the twelfth house of your birth chart at times you're uncertain
of the future, with vague fears of danger or treachery. If you voice these
fears, then others may feel that you are suffering from paranoia. However, it's
true that you can suffer at the hands of secret enemies and that you would do
well to avoid dangerous situations. This placement of the planet Mars in your
birth chart does indicate that danger and treachery can feature in your life.
It can also mean loss of reputation. However, these can be avoided. You need to live your life with the utmost
integrity, avoiding all criminal elements of society. You also need to learn to
follow your instincts, seeking seclusion when necessary and directing your
energies into secret arts or meditation. You may also be called on to make
sacrifices for other people at some stage during your life. This could mean
directing your energies into looking after other people, in particular your spouse
who could suffer from an illness.
The
planet Mars in the sign of Gemini indicates that you like to initiate ideas and
spread information, and can often be found at the hub of communications whether
it be at work or home. In fact life can be quite noisy and erratic for those
around you. A restless person, you find it difficult to settle down to a single
activity and often have to juggle several ongoing commitments. Fortunately
you're a dexterous person, who mostly seems to be able to handle several projects
at once. You know most of the tricks of the trade and can easily sidestep any
problems. Although sometimes your rash behaviour can
land you in a spot of trouble, in which you need all of your resources to see
you through. You like to learn through your own mistakes rather than rely on
other people's advice. You have a tendency to collect information from all
sources trying out all of their advice for yourself. You're ardent in your
pursuit of education whether it be through study, travelling, reading or everyday life. It's also likely that
you're adept at writing or teaching.
Your
friends have difficulty keeping up with you because the planets Mars and
Jupiter are combining to give a boundless source of energy. On the whole you're
a lively and resourceful person, who delights in good health and keeping busy.
Any course of action is entered into with confidence and determination to
succeed, which you're likely to do. You're always ready to help those who will
help themselves, but you've no qualms about leaving behind those who are
determined to rest on their laurels. You certainly know how to get yourself and
other people motivated, and can make a good leader or manager. In fact you're
quite ambitious, not afraid of tackling big projects. Others may think that
you've taken on more than you can handle, but you usually prove them wrong.
You're generous, self confident and lucky, with a tendency to go where angels
fear to tread. You're also courageous, approaching life with gusto regardless
of the consequences. You may be particularly keen to travel, enjoying the
stimulation of visiting other venues. You could direct your energy to
achievement in sports, politics or travel.
Your only problem will be suffering from "burn-out" because
you don't know when to stop and rest.
CAREER
AND AMBITIONS

The
road up and the road down are one and the same
Heraclitus, Die Fragmente der Vorsokratiker
c540-480BC.
The
planet Saturn represents responsibility, boundaries and structure; structure
that provides a positive framework within which we can build, or structure that
limits our development and forces us to reassess our liabilities and assets.
This planet is also linked with our ambitions, and how we approach the
practical side of life. This planet often represents the professional side of
our lives.
The
planet Saturn placed in the sixth house of your birth chart suggests that
health is a major feature of your life, either because of your own or a loved
one's sickness, or because you've decided to work in a health-related job, or
perhaps both. It's likely that you've to watch your health closely, making sure
that you've a proper diet, and a good balance of physical exercise, rest and
work. You're prone to ill-health through no fault of your own, sometimes
missing out on opportunities for work and recreation as a result. It's possible
that you suffered sickness as a child, which meant that you missed out on school
or opportunities to play with other children. You've learnt over the years to
seek advice from professional medical practitioners, and to follow their
orders. This applies to both orthodox and alternative medical practitioners.
You may also be interested in working in a medical field. You've trouble
working in a regular office environment. It's not that you don't like work, but
rather that you seem to experience delays and frustrations in the workplace.
You also have trouble getting the co-operation of co-workers.
The
planet Saturn in the sign of Libra signifies that you're committed to both
intimate and business partners, and these relationships have a significant
effect on your private and professional life. In particular your primary
partner or a close female friend is likely to play a profound role in your
life. This can be positive or negative, perhaps both. You've refined tastes and
the ability to work towards being able to satisfy these tastes, but it's the
relationships in your life which are the most important influence. These
influences are likely to be positive, because the planet Saturn is considered
to be in a positive position in the sign of Libra. However, it's also possible
that you could suffer loss as a result of key relationships. You've the ability
to arbitrate and bring together opposing parties, and this could help you rise
above any difficulties. You could also use these gifts in your profession,
choosing a job in diplomatic circles or social work. You need only be wary of
being too diplomatic. Sometimes it's important to express your own opinions in
a forceful manner rather than try to please other people. If you can overcome
this tendency to excessive politeness then you're able to achieve your
ambitions through your liaisons with other people.
The
favourable combination of the planets Saturn and
The
combination of the planets Saturn and Pluto in your chart suggests that you're
an ambitious, insightful and powerful person. You're likely to make a powerful
impact on your friends, family, colleagues and loved ones, both as a child and
an adult. At times you might be surprised by the extent of other people's
reactions to your presence and opinions. You may even surprise yourself by your
own reactions to some circumstances. Authority is likely to be a continuing
source of difficulty in your life, as you attempt to find the right balance
between your own individual rights, and those of the community. Of course there
are many instances when these two rights coincide, but you're more likely to
find yourself involved in the clashes, perhaps as a mediator. It's possible
that you could become involved in someone's power struggles, in which your role
may or may not be central to the outcome. It's true that you've the ability to
be a powerful leader, perhaps in the government or armed forces, or as an
executive or politician. You can be a powerful leader, but first you must learn
to use your unique insights for positive purposes. The 19th Century author John
Stuart Mill said in his work On Liberty (1859) that: "Everyone who
desires power, desires it most over those who are nearest to him, with whom his
life is passed, with whom he has most concerns in common, and in whom any
independence of his authority is oftenest likely to interfere with his
individual preferences". Herein lies a key to
your chart. You've the ability to succeed in your ambitions, but first you must
learn how to deal with the balance of power in your life, respecting both your
own and other people's rights to succeed.
The
Midheaven is one of the important angles in a birth
chart and is also known by astrologers as the MC or Medium Coeli.
This angle tells us of our public life, our profession and social status. In
other words how we are viewed by the public, how we want to be viewed by the
public and what type of profession we are likely to choose. It's also important
to note the house position of the ruling planet of your Midheaven
for further information about your career as this can greatly influence the
interpretation.
With
a Midheaven in the sign of Capricorn and ruled by the
planet Saturn, you'll choose a responsible and respectable career path,
preferring to be seen as authoritative and reliable rather than innovative or
extraordinary. You may experience some early career setbacks, but your hard
work will pay off in the end and you'll receive the respect you desire. It's
likely that you'll become an authority in your field. Your career choice
depends on many other factors in your chart, but you could be attracted to
politics, business, government positions and public service. Examples of famous
people with the same Midheaven include Australian
historian Manning Clark, UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and German Chancellor
Willy Brandt.
CREATIVITY
AND ORIGINALITY

The
artist must be in his work as God is in
creation, invisible and
all-powerful; one
must sense him everywhere but
never see him.
Gustav
Flaubert, Correspondence 1857-64.
The
planet Uranus represents originality and unconventionality. This can be both the unusual and brilliant genius or the wilful rebel without a cause. This planet tells us the
areas in which we break with convention, become innovative and experiment with
new and exciting ways. In some circles of astrology Uranus represents the
creative genius which comes directly via our soul or higher self.
The
planet Uranus is in the third house of your birth chart suggesting that you're
a quick and original thinker, quick to grasp the meaning of complicated
subjects and to understand the nuances of human relations. Your intuition is
strong, so much so that you may have clairvoyant, clairaudient or telepathic
abilities, perhaps even a gift for magnetic healing. You may be fascinated by
the occult world or pursue your interest in astrology, science or metaphysics
through reading, writing or studying. Other people may be drawn to your
original mind, or they may be repelled by your eccentricity, because you do
have a tendency to suddenly express your ideas without fully realising their impact on other people. When you focus your
creative and intelligent mind on one task it's difficult to imagine you failing
at your purpose, but the problem is being able to maintain your concentration.
At times you're unsettled in your purpose, and your restlessness can prompt
sudden changes of residence or impromptu journeys. The planet Uranus in this
house can also indicate an unusual relationship with your siblings, or that
your siblings are independent and unconventional.
The
planet Uranus was in the sign of Cancer from 1949 - 1956. It's important to
note that Uranus spends a long time in each sign, and therefore the
interpretation applies to a generation rather than the individual. For a more
individual interpretation you need to look at the house position of Uranus in
your chart. Uranus in the sign of Cancer indicates that you belong to a
generation which nurtures the ideas of the previous generation. This generation
is concerned about the welfare of society, global communication, caring for
suffering people in the international community, about the changes in family
life and the effects of technology. Your creativity soars when you're tackling
these issues.
The
planet
The
planet
The
planets Neptune and Pluto both move slowly through the zodiac,
and therefore any connection between the two planets affects birth charts for a
short period of time. You were born in such a time. This combination in your
chart means that you're interested in opportunities to bring about fundamental
change to human values. You are aware of injustices in society and, depending
on other influences in your chart, may prefer to fight against them rather than
sit back and accept the ills of society. Your creative urges may be linked to
politics, or expressing your political views through the arts or spiritual or
charitable organisations.
CHALLENGES
IN LIFE

The
spirit of self-help is the root of all genuine growth in the individual.
Samuel Smiles, Self-Help 1859.
The
planet Pluto challenges us to transform our lives by clearing out our old
habits to make way for the new, more rewarding ways of living. The process
isn't necessarily an easy one, as most of us cling tenaciously to the comfort
offered by habitual patterns, and are rather scared of new paths. Pluto shows
us in which areas of our lives we need to grow, and to a certain extent whether
we're likely to find the process of growing painful or joyful.
The
planet Pluto is in the fifth house of your birth chart indicating that you've a
powerful need to express yourself creatively. This could be through an artistic
project, a unique talent in your field of work, or a hobby. It's likely that a
hobby might command so much of your time and energy that it threatens to
impinge on other areas of your life. You might choose to make your hobby your
career so that you can further pursue your talents. Children may present
difficulties in your life. You may have difficulty having children of your own,
or you could discover that their demands are impinging on your creative
activities. As you a result you struggle to find the right balance between
spending time with your children, and spending creative time on your own. You
need to be careful of being too dominating in your behaviour
towards children. You should also be wary of becoming involved in love affairs,
which could become obsessive.
The
planet Pluto was in the sign of Leo from 1939 - 1957. It's important to note
that Pluto takes about 248 years to make a complete cycle, spending 12 - 32
years in each sign, and therefore the interpretation applies to a generation
rather than the individual. For a more individual interpretation you need to
look at the house position of Pluto in your chart. Pluto in the sign of Leo
suggests that you belong to a generation of people concerned with the lack of
or acquiring of power. People of this generation have the ability to use power
both positively and negatively. World power and leadership are also important
issues for these people.
PURPOSE
AND JOY

He
who binds to himself a joy
Doth
the winged life destroy
But
he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives
in Eternity's sunrise
William Blake, MS Note-book.
A
sense of purpose can help us overcome the most onerous difficulties in our
lives, by taking the focus away from our failings and problems, and shining the
light on our strengths and talents. By concentrating on our purpose we can
distract ourselves from our troubles, and maintain the forward momentum of our
lives. A sense of purpose can also lead to feelings of happiness and joy.
Ancient astrologers believed that a person could either identify with their
human body and human life, or could focus on a spiritual life. A rewarding
spiritual life can help ease human pain and suffering, and inject joy into
every day life. A sense of purpose can assist the process of transferring our
identification from our human selves to the spiritual sides of our nature, and one
of the greatest gifts of astrology is to help us determine our purpose.
The
North Node and South Node form an axis in astrology, which is said to represent
one's destiny or spiritual quest in life. This axis is also linked with our
purpose. The North Node points to a key lesson in our lives. It represents new
experiences towards which we must aim during this life. We have already learnt
the skills of its opposite point, the South Node, in the past. Now we must grow
and stretch ourselves through the North Node.
Your
North Node is in the tenth house and your South Node is in the fourth house of
your birth chart indicating a quest for dignity in the eyes of the world. You
need to shoulder responsibilities with understanding and compassion after which
maturity will follow.
Your
nodal axis has the North Node in Aquarius and the South Node in the sign of Leo
denoting that yours is a quest towards service to humankind. You'll experience
a struggle between your own personal needs and a sense of dedication to others.
You need to set aside your personal need for honour
and prestige and use your talents to serve the world.
The
North Node and the Moon are combining to suggest that you're being urged to
come to terms with the emotional side of your nature. You may have difficulty
expressing your emotions, particularly in groups of people. This is an area
which you need to develop throughout your life, so that you can learn to use
your intuition. This will better help you to pursue your purpose in life.
The
North Node and the planet Mars are combining to suggest that you're being
challenged to become assertive and focussed on your
personal goals.
The
South Node and the planet Mars are combining to suggest that you may experience
difficulty being assertive and finding the drive to succeed, or alternatively
you may have a tendency to misdirect your energies. Your current life lesson is
to express your energy positively and assertively. Your talent for independent
action needs to be developed so that you can achieve your purpose.
The
Ascendant, or Rising Sign as it's sometimes called, is a key to discovering our
purpose. Ancient astrologers believed that the Ascendant depicted our primary
motivation as individuals. Some believed that it was one of the links to
discovering what makes a person happy. When we're accomplishing our primary
motivation then we're happy. The more modern Esoteric
astrologers believe that this sensitive chart point reveals our soul's purpose.
When we're carrying out our soul's purpose then we're joyful. They believe that
acceptance of our purpose, or fate, can help us
achieve success and satisfaction, and that meditation on the qualities of the
Ascendant can help us focus on our life's purpose.
The
sign of Gemini is considered to be "masculine" by Ancient astrologers
suggesting that you're more likely to actively seek your purpose in life,
taking the initiative rather than waiting until circumstances are comfortable.
Gemini is also a Mutable sign denoting versatility, flexibility, adaptability,
sensitivity, restlessness, indecision and anxiety.
You're
clever, cunning, intuitive and restless. Enjoying life at a
fast pace you certainly live up to the mutable side of the sign of Gemini.
You delight in taking a flexible and adaptable approach to life, preferring to
keep all of your options open rather than committing to one course of action.
Your primary motivation is stimulation, because you hate to be bored. For this
reason you're rarely settled in one place for long. You enjoy exchanging ideas
with other people, whether it be through the spoken or
written word. Your inability to concentrate, combined with your hectic pace of
life, can sometimes get in your way in pursuing your true purpose. You've so
many ideas and projects that you can't be relied on to complete anything. This
is more likely to concern other people than you because of your ambivalence.
Sooner or later you're forced to listen to the advice of those around you,
telling you to select a course of action. Or perhaps your curiosity leads you
to find a satisfying intellectual pursuit. It's likely you'll excel in
educational pursuits, such as academic studies. Communication is vital, and you
soon develop a strong desire for knowledge and expression to help you overcome
the dualities in your life.
In
Esoteric astrology the sign of Gemini is linked with bridging duality. In other
words your purpose is linked creating links between two forces whether this is
simply the ability to mediate between two opposing parties, or the ability to
educate others about the links between heaven and earth. Your purpose is
connected with recognising and working with the
differences between material and spiritual values.
CONCLUSION
The
text in this report has been written by Australian astrologer Stephanie
Johnson. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) and was a journalist
in
Stephanie's
background in medieval astrology can be detected in the direct style of the
report. Medieval astrologers differed from modern-day astrologers in several
ways. They didn't have a psychological approach to chart interpretation, but
took a much more literal approach. They were very much concerned with the
fortunes of an individual, whether a person would survive or not, and whether
or not the person would experience good or failing fortunes. The author's
particular area of interest in Esoteric astrology can
be mainly detected in the section labelled
"Purpose and Joy". In Esoteric astrology the purpose of an individual
is linked to the soul. In other words it is believed that our souls determine
our sense of purpose in the world, motivating us to put our gifts to good
purpose.
